Netis Chosen for SPRIND Funke Challenge to Combat Deepfakes

We proudly announce that Netis has been selected as one of 12 teams in the SPRIND Funke “Deepfake Detection and Prevention” initiative. Organized by the Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation SPRIND and supported by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), this prestigious innovation competition focuses on developing scalable solutions to detect and prevent deepfakes in digital media.

Netis’ Winning Idea: Content Transparency Archive (CTA)

In developing our proposal, we focused on the idea that only high-quality data can improve algorithms. Our solution, the Content Transparency Archive (CTA), combats deepfakes by leveraging metadata to create a global repository for verifying image authenticity. This system enables creators to generate unique image fingerprints and securely publish metadata, allowing verifiers to confirm authenticity while blocking malicious actors. We believe the CTA should be an open, global public good, contributing to a more trusted and transparent digital world.

In the first phase of this two-stage competition, each team will receive up to €350,000 to work on their solutions. In May 2025, the competing teams will present their progress to the jury, which will then select up to 10 teams to move on to the next stage, with the potential to receive an additional €375,000 to further develop ideas.

We’re extremely excited about this opportunity to contribute to the fight against digital deception and look forward to advancing in this competition.
